Holy Mountain of Sangre de Topo!!

King Shot is a film by Alejandro Jodorowsky and co-produced by David Lynch, scheduled for release in 2010. The cast includes Nick Nolte, Asia Argento, Marilyn Manson, Udo Kier, and Santiago Segura.

Jodorowsky describes the film, his first since the 1990 film The Rainbow Thief, as a "metaphysical gangster movie."

The story is to be set in a casino in the desert. The film involves gangsters, the discovery of a man as big as King Kong, and Marilyn Manson is said to portray a 300 year old pope.

In search of Pulque

Hello once again true believers.
I have spent the last four to six months in search of Pulque.

As I am easily distracted by Tortas, Santa Muerte and Loafers with knives I have come up fruitless. But like most yogurt the best fruit is on the bottom. I'm not sure where I'm going with that. Maybe it is an analogy for stirring it up. For live culture is equal to or greater than live cultures?

See. Distracted again! SNAFU! NATIC STATIC!

I shall not... What is the word? Distraction?

OK. So here's the deal. Pulque: "Older than Tequila, Stronger than Beer", yet better known as the "disappearing" drink of Mexico. A milk-colored, somewhat viscous alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey plant, and is a traditional native beverage of Mexico.

The drink’s history extends far back into the Mesoamerican period, when it was considered sacred, and its use was limited to certain classes of people. After the Spanish Conquest of Mexico, the drink became secular and its consumption rose. The consumption of Pulque reached its peak in the late 1800’s. In the 20th century, the drink fell into decline, mostly because of the competition of newly introduced beer by European immigrants.

So why do I want this? Well the fact that Pulque was served as a ritual intoxicant for priests to increase their enthusiasm, for sacrificial victims to ease their passing, and as a medicinal drink. Pulque was also served as a liquor reserved to celebrate the feats of the brave and the wise, and was even considered to be an acceptable substitute for blood in some propitiatory ceremonies. I think that's reason enough.

I have found two distributors of Pulque, but I am not in retail or wholesale.

Here are the links if you or someone is:

So after work today I am going to the corner "Sunshine Liquor" store nest to my place. I'm going to see if I can get some ordered!

p.s. Yes I have tried Northgate (AKA Gonzales). Most people just say "Go to Mexico City for that..."

Stay tuned!

Taxi Answers

I'm up to my waist in your letters to Taxi.
He is SO LAZY. Instead of answering your letters he simply rolls up in the blankets and sleeps.

Never meet your heroes.

I begged, pleaded and got on my hands and knees to get Taxi to answer some of these questions.
And I mean, you guys have some great questions.

Peter Quipqauck Jr. of Beulah, North Dakota asks:

Dearest Taxi, is it true that the Chinese are greatly lactose intolerant? I always thought of them as a tolerant culture. Is this why there is no cheese in Chinese food?

Clip Davis of Sioux City, Iowa asks:

Dear Taxi, my wife and I have been together for 29 years. We used to watch Growing Pains (on VHS) every night before we made "whoopee". Now out VCR is dead, due mistaking "Purple Saurus Rex Kool Aide" with the head cleaner. I can't bring myself up to the chore without Ben's lovable smile. HELP!

Caroline Coopers-Jones-Inglewood of Newport Beach, California asks:

Dear Taxi, what's for dinner?

I could go on and on with these. Taxi agreed to do a short video to resolve some of these daring questions.

Enjoy.

Drink N Draw (Some Results May Differ)

Once again we meet here true believers. I your humble presenter of... Oh who am I kidding.

Here are the (two) results (so far) of the Lotería theme.

First card I pulled from the pile:

(On a quick side note. I do not like parrots so much. I grew up with one who would attack me for no reason. I had to keep a cache of ping pong balls with me at all times.)

#24 El Cotorro

Photobucket

The second card I drew, and had to draw:

#21 La Mano

Photobucket

I took a break from that out of sheer terror of having to draw another "bird" or sorts. Get it? Bird? La Mano kinda looked like it was giving the...

ANYWAY.

Here are some other pieces I worked on:

The Old Man Talked of Amon-Ra

Some Scum Like It (Hot)

And last but not least:

The Old Lady Was Made of Peanut Butter

Photobucket

Well. Are you satisfied? I for one, am surely not.

Stick around and see what happens next Tuesday!

p.s And don't call me surely.

Some of my t-shirt designs (in progress)

So here we are. Do I keep adding? Changing colors? Different logo?
Or just STOP and print the damn things!
I'm too damn picky. And too damn broke to print them all (at once).

Wake Up Call

Here are some tunes to go with your cup o joe.

Skinny Puppy - Spasmolytic (From Too Dark Park)

Cut Copy - Saturdays (From Bright Like Neon Love)

Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel - Ramrod (Ramrod 12")

Matmos - Steam And Sequins For Larry Levan (The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast)

If these tunes don't help you wake up... Your probably already dead.

Drink N Draw Tonight!

I'm looking forward to some Drink N Draw action tonight!

Last week the assignment was to re-draw the Lotería.

"Lotería is a Mexican game of chance, similar to Bingo, but using images on a deck of cards instead of plain numbers on ping pong balls.
Every image has a name and an assigned number, but the number is usually ignored.
Each player has at least one tabla, a board with a randomly created 4 x 4 grid of pictures with their corresponding name and number.
Each player choose what tabla they want to play with, from a variety of previously created tablas. Each one presents a different selection of images."

For more info go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loter%C3%ADa_%28board_game%29

I only finished ONE card. I'll have to scan it and upload it in the future. But for now, here are some images from previous Drink N Draw nights. Themes or assignments are not every time we meet, but they keep things fresh and fun!

Come and play with us. Come and play with us. Forever... and ever... and ever... Or at least every Tuesday.

(Look to the right for more Drink N Draw info.)

Just a Photo of Us

Taxi took this photo of us. He did it with his camera phone.
Don't worry, he has unlimited roll over minutes.

Do The (Taxi) Crawl

Here is Taxi doing the "crawl".

I'm teaching him to break dance.

Stay tuned for:
"Grand Master Taxi and The Furious Fur"
or
"How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Dog".

Yawn. It's Monday.

I need a haircut. I need some coffee.
I me mine I me mine I me mine.
What? Did you want me to write something about YOU?
Speaking of you. I have a video just for you.

Les Rythmes Digitales: "(Hey You) What's That Sound?"

Alright. Now that we are awake.

I have another dentist appointment this week. It will be the last one of the year. I have to get some filling thingys refilled or something. That's the technical talk. I did have to get DEEP CLEANING done in two sessions earlier this month. I had never had the dreaded deep cleaning before. The first session was fine. The second session was something else all together.
When a dentist asks "Do you want to do this the new way or the old fashioned way?"
ALWAYS... Always go with the NEW WAY.
I asked what's the difference? "I can get you out 30 minutes early".
"Alright. The old fashioned way sounds good".

But does it not? Old fashioned. I love old fashioned!

I love old fashioned clothes.
I love old fashioned music.
I love old fashioned movies.
I love old fashioned art.
Hell, I love old fashioned doughnuts!

Old fashioned deep cleaning should be fun too!
I will like this old fashioned deep cleaning!!

I know what Bill Cosby was talking about.
Here is an old fashioned Bill Cosby talk on the dentist.

I hate old fashioned.

First blog!

"And what are you going to talk about Aron"? Said the evil Cheryl.

I'll talk about art. Music. Taxi (my dog and trusty friend).

I'll talk about whatever and whatever.

Did I mention I've been listening to Kraut Rock? Amon Düül II is on the brain using the ears.

Did I mention I've been drinking coffee with ice cream instead of creamer? It's good.

Tonight we are going to Carl Jansson's Tardis. And we are going to watch the new Dr. Who on his 50' plasma tv. Unlike Brian's puny 50" plasma tv.

Here is a picture of the man.

And the thing I'm (REALLY) gonna blog about is Taxi. Best friend. True hero. Noble Peace Prize winner.

T is for Terrific.
A is for Awesome!
X is for Xylophone (Yes he plays a xylophone).
I is for... Is for... Is mine!

There he is in all his glory.

Stay tune true believers.
'Nuff said (for now).
